Curriculum and Programs

At La Honda we strive to meet the needs of all students.

In the lower elementary grades, 1-3, we offer our students Reading Mastery, an intervetion program for students who are below grade level, and appropriately paced Houghton Mifflin Math and Language Arts. Students who are capable of working above grade level are referred to the Student Success Team where individual solutions are determined. These students are subsequently referred for GATE testing in 3rd grade.

In the upper elementary grades 4-6, our students who are below grade level study High Point, a intervention program designed to help them catch up to grade level standards. Students on grade level are also placed in differentiated Houghton Mifflin Langauge Arts and Math programs, and students who have successfully passed the GATE testing are placed in a cluster grouping with a GATE certified teacher.
